Teacher allegedly beaten to death after disciplining student in Kogi

A female teacher has reportedly lost her life after she was allegedly assaulted in Ugbamaka, Okpo District, Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, following a disagreement over disciplinary action taken against one of her students.

The tragic incident was said to have occurred after the teacher punished the student in the course of carrying out her duties, triggering a confrontation with the child's father.

According to reports, the student's father allegedly confronted the teacher over the punishment before the disagreement turned violent, leaving the educator fatally injured.

The incident was brought to public attention by security and counter-insurgency analyst Zagazola Makama, who disclosed details of the alleged attack in a post shared on X on Sunday.

The development has sparked widespread outrage within the community, with residents and education stakeholders expressing concern over the safety of teachers and the growing trend of attacks on educators while performing their responsibilities.

Many have called for improved protection for teachers and stricter measures against violence in schools, insisting that those responsible for the incident must be held accountable.
