The Governing Council of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi has dismissed its Director of Information and Communication Technology, Isah Yusuf Tsafe, after finding him guilty of gross misconduct, negligence and failure to properly account for university property under his supervision.
The decision was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the institution's Head of Information and Public Relations, Jamilu Magaji, who said the action followed the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings against the former director.
According to the statement, the council also sanctioned another staff member in the ICT unit, Abdullahi Mohammed Adamu, by reducing his rank by one grade level and barring him from promotion for the next five years.
The university explained that Adamu was found to have engaged in financial dealings with parents of prospective students and participated in admission-related activities despite not being a member of the institution's admissions team.
"The Council also directed the university management to recover or surcharge the value of all outstanding university property linked to the case," the statement read.
The council said the disciplinary measures were taken to reinforce accountability and ensure adherence to ethical standards within the institution.
It added that the decisions underscored the university's commitment to merit, discipline and professionalism, stressing that responsible conduct would remain central to its administration.
