The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Prof. Tomola Obamuyi, has hailed the institution's recognition by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, describing it as a validation of the university's commitment to transparency and academic excellence.
Obamuyi stated this while reacting to the Admission Transparency and Inclusive Education Award recently presented to the university by JAMB.
The vice-chancellor noted that AAUA was the only state-owned university among the 10 institutions honoured by the examination body, describing the recognition as another testament to the institution's growing reputation in Nigeria's higher education sector.
According to him, the award reinforces AAUA's standing as one of the country's leading state universities and reflects its contributions to quality teaching, research and community development.
"The significance of this recognition is enormous. Being the only state university among the award recipients further affirms AAUA's position as a leading state-owned institution in Nigeria. It is also an endorsement from a critical stakeholder in the nation's higher education system, and we are proud of the achievement," he said.
Obamuyi added that the honour reflected the university's commitment to the vision of its founding fathers and its determination to remain a 21st-century institution driven by excellence.
The vice-chancellor commended the university's Admissions Committee, led by Prof. Adebisi Olonisakin, for its role in securing the award and urged members of staff to sustain the culture of excellence.
He said the recognition aligned with his administration's vision of transforming the university into a global centre for knowledge creation, research, innovation and human capital development.
Obamuyi encouraged members of the university community to embrace what he described as an award-winning mindset and remain committed to the institution's "AAUA FIRST Strategy" to consolidate its achievements and attain greater heights.
