The Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Prof. Tomola Obamuyi, on Thursday embarked on a stakeholders' engagement tour, appealing to traditional rulers and the Akoko North-West Local Government to support the institution's infrastructure development.
Obamuyi, who was accompanied by members of the university's management team, visited the palaces of the Ajana of Afa Okeagbe, Oba Mofolorunso Adegboyega Samuel Arasanyin, and the Owa-Ale Adimula of Ikare-Akoko, Oba Adeleke Adefemi Adegbite Adedoyin II. He also visited the Akoko North-West Local Government Secretariat in Okeagbe.
The Vice-Chancellor said the visits were aimed at strengthening the university's relationship with key stakeholders and mobilising support for its growth and development.
He explained that the new administration was committed to building enduring partnerships with traditional institutions, government authorities and other stakeholders to address the institution's infrastructure needs.
Obamuyi appealed to the monarchs, their communities and prominent indigenes to support the university by sponsoring buildings and other landmark projects that would serve as lasting legacies.
"We want our host communities and well-meaning individuals to partner with the university by investing in infrastructure that will contribute to the institution's development and be remembered for generations," he said.
Responding, the traditional rulers pledged their continued support for the university and commended the Vice-Chancellor for engaging critical stakeholders at the beginning of his administration.
The Ajana of Afa Okeagbe described the visit as a commendable initiative, assuring the management that the community would continue to contribute to the growth of the institution.
Similarly, the Owa-Ale Adimula of Ikare-Akoko reaffirmed the commitment of the people of Ikare to the development of AAUA, noting that the university remained a shared heritage deserving of sustained community support.
At the Akoko North-West Local Government Secretariat, the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Musa Olasehinde, who represented the Chairman, Hon. Esan Owolabi, assured the university of the council's support and pledged to make the local government's graders available for use by the institution as requested by the Vice-Chancellor.
