ADP Presidential candidate picks Imo politician as running mate for 2027

The presidential candidate of the Action Democratic Party for the 2027 general election, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas, has named Hon. Chinazam Ike as his running mate.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by Abbas' Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson.

According to the statement, the choice of Ike reflects the party's commitment to promoting inclusive leadership and presenting what it described as a credible alternative for Nigerians ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Abbas said the ticket would focus on national unity, economic growth, purposeful governance and youth inclusion, expressing confidence that the partnership would inspire confidence among Nigerians.

The vice-presidential nominee is from Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State and is described as a politician, entrepreneur and youth advocate with more than 20 years of leadership experience.

He previously served as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Forum of National Youth Leaders of Political Parties in Nigeria and also held the position of National Youth Leader of the Action Democratic Party.

Outside politics, Ike is the Project Director of Season.com Nig. Ltd., where he has been involved in housing development and other private sector initiatives.

The party described the Abbas-Ike ticket as a blend of experience and youthful leadership, saying it represents its vision of competence, justice, equity and national development.

It also appealed to Nigerians, particularly young people, women, professionals, traditional institutions and civil society groups, to support its campaign, expressing optimism that the party would provide a new direction for the country ahead of the 2027 polls.
