Alleged fake agency DG's ordeal deepens as House of Reps takes action

The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council has instructed the Inspector-General of Police to ensure the council's Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi, appears before the panel on Wednesday, July 29.

The directive was issued on Monday by the committee's chairman, Yusuf Gagdi, during the resumed hearing into the circumstances surrounding the inclusion of the council in the 2026 Appropriation Act.

Lawmakers are also probing the operations and legal status of the agency after the Presidency reportedly distanced itself from the council, raising questions over its existence and activities.

Gagdi said the police should produce Adeyemi at the next sitting to respond to issues bordering on the council's establishment, budgetary allocation and other matters under investigation.

The committee is expected to continue its hearing on Wednesday as it seeks further clarification on the controversy surrounding the agency.
