Beheaded woman’s corpse found in Ondo


The Ondo State Police Command has commenced an investigation after the mutilated body of an unidentified woman was discovered along Barracks Road near the GRA Roundabout in Ondo town.

The command's spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said detectives were mobilised to the scene after receiving a distress call and found the victim's headless body.

He disclosed that preliminary findings revealed that several parts of the deceased's body had also been mutilated, prompting an intensive investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing.

According to the police, efforts are ongoing to identify the victim, apprehend those responsible for the crime and determine the motive behind the gruesome act.

"The detectives who responded to the distress call discovered the headless body of a female victim. Preliminary observations showed that parts of the body had been mutilated. Investigation has commenced to identify the deceased, arrest those responsible and establish the motive behind the incident," the police spokesman said.

The command assured residents that every effort was being made to bring the perpetrators to justice, urging members of the public with useful information to report to the nearest police station or contact the police through its emergency lines.

The police added that the area remained calm, noting that adequate security measures had been put in place to ensure the safety of residents while the investigation continues.
