The remains of a prominent leader of The African Church, Chief Jacob Bayode Oludare, popularly known as Baba National, have been laid to rest in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, amid tributes celebrating his dedication to humanity, the church and community development.
Chief Oludare, who was born on May 7, 1949, to the family of Mr and Mrs Jonah Oludare, was described by speakers at the funeral as an intelligent, disciplined and selfless leader whose life was marked by unwavering commitment to service.
The burial ceremony attracted religious leaders, dignitaries, family members and well-wishers. The Primate of The African Church was represented by His Grace, the Most Rev. Adedeji Sogbamu, while the sermon was delivered by His Grace, the Most Rev. J.O. Akinsanya, who preached on the theme, "Unity and Forgiveness."
Speaking during the service, the Vicar in charge, the Rt. Rev. Samuel Olugbenga Asimolowo, paid glowing tribute to the deceased, describing him as a devoted church worker whose contributions greatly advanced the growth of The African Church.
Until his death, Chief Oludare served as the former National Financial Secretary of The African Church and former Vice Lay President of the Akoko/Idoani Diocese.
He also retired from First Bank of Nigeria after a distinguished career and later served as the Managing Director of Oroke Microfinance Bank, Akungba-Akoko.
As part of the ceremony, members of The African Church Lads and Lasses Brigade conducted a ceremonial parade in his honour after the outing service, paying their final respects to the late church leader.
The reception was later held at Community Comprehensive High School, Akungba-Akoko, where family members, friends and associates celebrated his life with music and goodwill.
