Man arraigned for allegedly stealing bajaj motorcycle in Akoko


A 28-year-old man, Atere Oyeyemi, has been arraigned before an Akungba-Akoko Magistrate's Court in Ondo State over the alleged theft of a motorcycle valued at N1.39 million.

Oyeyemi was docked on a three-count charge bordering on stealing before Magistrate K.A. Kolawole.

The prosecution, led by Inspector Olasunkanmi Boboye, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on January 22, 2025, at about 11:00 a.m. at Okia Camp in Supare-Akoko.

According to the prosecutor, the defendant unlawfully entered the residence of one Ogunsakin Samuel and allegedly stole an unregistered red motorcycle with chassis number MD2A18AXXRWG67192 and engine number DUXWRG54879.

The prosecution said the alleged offence contravened Sections 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Defence counsel, Kolapo Inumo, urged the court to grant his client bail, assuring the court that he would not jump bail or interfere with the judicial process.

In his ruling, Magistrate Kolawole admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N4 million with two sureties in like sum.

The magistrate thereafter adjourned the case until August 5, 2026, for further hearing.
