The Imo State Police Command has arrested a man accused of allegedly killing his wife and abandoning her body within the premises of a church in Owaelu, Owerri North Local Government Area of the state.
The command said the victim's body was discovered last Thursday after the suspect allegedly fled the community with two of their children, leaving behind a suckling baby.
The abandoned infant was later rescued and handed over to a trusted family member for care.
The command's spokesperson, Henry Okoye, disclosed that the suspect was tracked and arrested in Ebonyi State during a joint operation involving operatives of the Imo State Police Command and their counterparts in Ebonyi.
Okoye said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death were ongoing, adding that the suspect would be prosecuted upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The police assured residents that the command remained committed to ensuring justice in the case while urging members of the public to continue providing useful information that could aid crime-fighting efforts across the state.
