Nigerian preacher and marriage counsellor, Reverend Funke Felix-Adejumo, has advised married men against placing themselves under undue pressure in an attempt to satisfy their wives, saying no man can completely meet a woman's expectations.
The cleric gave the advice during a sermon, where she urged husbands to remain committed to their responsibilities at home while protecting their health and well-being.
Addressing the congregation, Felix-Adejumo said men should strive to do their best in marriage without feeling compelled to meet every expectation of their spouses.
"Do everything you can, but don't kill yourself. I am speaking to married men as a woman. Nobody can completely please a woman," she said.
She explained that women naturally seek improvements and changes, using beauty enhancement as an illustration of their desire for better appearances.
According to her, women often alter features such as their nails, eyebrows and hair despite how they were naturally created, adding that if God Himself could not satisfy every desire, no husband should expect to do so.
Felix-Adejumo therefore encouraged husbands to give their best efforts in marriage without sacrificing their lives or peace of mind.
The preacher also challenged women to pursue financial independence instead of relying solely on their husbands for money.
She urged wives to develop personal sources of income so that whatever they receive from their spouses would become an addition rather than their only means of support.
She cited her own marriage as an example, recalling that she presented her husband with 61 gifts on his 60th birthday.
She encouraged women to aspire to pleasantly surprise their husbands with expensive gifts, stressing that their lives should not revolve around waiting for financial support from their spouses.
