The All Progressives Congress candidate for Akoko South West Constituency II in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr Niran Olanusi, has congratulated the Paramount Ruler of Oka Kingdom, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, the Oka Chiefs-in-Council and the people of the community on the celebration of Oka Day 2026.
Olanusi, in a statement issued by his Media Directorate, described the annual festival as a symbol of unity, cultural identity and collective progress, noting that it continues to strengthen the bond among the people of Oka and other communities in Akoko South West Local Government Area.
The APC candidate said the celebration had grown beyond a community festival to become a showcase of the rich cultural heritage and traditions for which Oka and the entire Akoko South West are known.
He said, “Oka Day is a testament to the resilience, unity and rich cultural heritage of our people. It is a celebration that deserves the support of all because the progress of one community contributes to the growth and pride of the entire local government.”
Olanusi commended Oba Adeleye for what he described as his purposeful and fatherly leadership, saying the monarch had continued to promote peace, harmony and development in the kingdom while preserving its cultural values.
He also praised members of the Oka Chiefs-in-Council and indigenes of the community, both at home and in the diaspora, for their contributions to the socio-economic development of the town and their commitment to preserving its cultural heritage.
The APC standard bearer urged residents of Akoko South West to continue to uphold peace, unity and mutual understanding, stressing that sustainable development could only be achieved through collective effort and cooperation.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting programmes aimed at community development, youth empowerment, quality education, improved infrastructure and inclusive governance across all communities in the local government.
Olanusi prayed for continued peace, prosperity and progress for Oka Kingdom, its traditional institution and residents as they celebrate the 2026 edition of the annual cultural festival.
