The General Officer Commanding 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Chinedu Nnebeife, has reaffirmed the Army's commitment to safeguarding Nigeria's sovereignty and sustaining peace across the country.
Nnebeife made the declaration on Thursday during the 14th valedictory service for the 2026 graduating students of Command Day Secondary School, Akure, Ondo State.
Represented by Col. Anthony Ochigbo, the GOC described peace and national security as non-negotiable, noting that officers and soldiers continued to make sacrifices daily to ensure a secure and prosperous nation.
He urged the graduating students to remain worthy ambassadors of the institution by upholding the values of discipline, loyalty, integrity and excellence instilled in them during their years of study.
Nnebeife also assured that the Nigerian Army would continue to improve personnel welfare, strengthen capacity-building programmes and deploy modern learning tools to sustain the high standards of command schools nationwide.
He encouraged the graduating students to face the future with confidence, describing them as leaders equipped with the resilience and values required to make meaningful contributions to society.
Earlier, the Commandant of the school, Lt. Col. Shamsudeen Zailani, congratulated the graduating students, describing the ceremony as a celebration of their discipline, resilience and perseverance throughout their academic journey.
He commended the school's teachers and non-teaching staff for their dedication and professionalism, urging the students to remain focused on their aspirations and continue to pursue excellence in their future endeavours.
Delivering a lecture, the Head of the Cyber Security Department at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Prof. Olufunso Alowolodu, advised the students to become problem-solvers and agents of positive change.
She stressed that education remained a vital tool for personal growth and national development, urging the graduates to apply the discipline and resilience acquired in school to address societal challenges.
The event featured the presentation of academic awards to outstanding students in Junior Secondary School 1 to 3 and Senior Secondary School 1 and 2.
