A member of the House of Representatives representing Akoko South East/Akoko South West Federal Constituency, Adegboyega Adefarati, has paid tribute to former Ondo State Governor, the late Rotimi Akeredolu, describing his life as one of courage, service and exemplary leadership.
In a statement issued on Tuesday to mark Akeredolu's posthumous 70th birthday, Adefarati said the occasion was both emotional and reflective, noting that the late governor left behind a legacy that continues to shape governance and security in the South-West.
He said Akeredolu would be remembered for championing the establishment of the Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, which he described as a bold initiative aimed at tackling insecurity in the region.
"Akeredolu worked tirelessly to improve the security of Ondo State and the entire South-West. He strongly believed in state and local policing and took practical steps to address emerging security challenges," Adefarati said.
The lawmaker also praised the late governor's leadership style, saying he remained committed to justice, equity and the welfare of the people throughout his years in office.
According to him, Akeredolu's tenure was marked by key infrastructural projects, institutional reforms and policies that strengthened governance in Ondo State.
"He was a fearless statesman, an accomplished legal icon and a leader whose courage and vision transformed public administration. His contributions to national development will remain a lasting reference point," he added.
Adefarati extended his sympathies to Akeredolu's family, the Ondo State Government and residents of the state, urging them to continue to uphold the ideals and values the late governor stood for.
