Activist and co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls movement, Aisha Yesufu, has said President Bola Tinubu should have been impeached long before now.
Yesufu made the remark on Tuesday in a post on her verified X account while reacting to the National Assembly's concerns over delays in implementing the 2026 national budget.
Her comments followed a statement by the Senate Chief Whip, Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno, who reportedly described the failure to implement the capital component of the budget as an impeachable offence.
Responding to the development, Yesufu urged lawmakers to begin impeachment proceedings against the President.
"Start the process already. President Tinubu should have been impeached years ago," she wrote.
The activist has been a vocal critic of the Tinubu administration and has repeatedly accused the government of poor governance and policy failures.
Last month, she also criticised members of the National Assembly, accusing senators of enabling what she described as the President's excesses.
Her latest comments add to the growing political debate over the pace of budget implementation and the National Assembly's oversight of the executive arm.
