A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Dino Melaye, has asked President Bola Tinubu to prepare to leave the Presidential Villa, predicting that the ADC will defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections.
Melaye said the opposition party was building its strength around what he described as widespread dissatisfaction with the Tinubu administration, particularly over economic hardship, insecurity and alleged poor governance.
The former Kogi State senator made the declaration during an interview with Arise TV on Monday, insisting that the electorate was ready to use the next presidential election to demand a change in leadership.
According to him, the government’s handling of borrowing and budget implementation had further fuelled public discontent. He alleged that some contractors whose projects were awarded in 2024 were yet to receive payment.
Melaye argued that the combination of hardship, insecurity, killings and alleged corruption had created a disconnect between the government and the people, saying the situation would reflect in the 2027 ballot.
He also criticised Tinubu over alleged remarks concerning electoral practices, including rigging, violence and ballot snatching, describing such comments as inappropriate for a President.
The ADC chieftain expressed confidence that his party would emerge victorious, declaring that the outcome of the election would force a change of government.
“Pack your bags and begin to prepare to leave the Villa,” Melaye said, predicting that Tinubu and his family would vacate the Presidential Villa after the 2027 election.
Melaye left the Peoples Democratic Party for the ADC in July 2025 and has since become one of the opposition party’s leading voices as it mobilises ahead of the 2027 elections.
