Relief has come to families in Kwara State following the release of 176 people abducted during the February 3, 2026 attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area.

The development was announced by the Kwara State Government in a post on its official Facebook page on Wednesday.

The government applauded President Bola Tinubu, security agencies and all those who contributed to securing the freedom of the victims, describing the development as a major breakthrough.

The victims were seized when suspected Boko Haram-affiliated gunmen invaded the two communities on motorcycles, unleashing a prolonged attack that left widespread destruction.

The assault, regarded as one of the bloodiest in the state's history, reportedly claimed more than 200 lives, injured several residents and razed homes and business premises.

Many survivors were also forced to abandon their communities in the aftermath of the attack due to the scale of devastation.

While confirming the victims' release, the state government did not disclose how they regained their freedom or provide details of any rescue operation that led to their release.
