The Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has commenced an indefinite strike over the non implementation of the 2025 agreement.
The industrial action followed what the union described as the failure to implement the provisions of the agreement despite earlier engagements and warnings issued to the university management.
Speaking with our correspondent on Tuesday, the ASUU chairman of the chapter, Prof. Boluwaji Oshodi, said the union had repeatedly communicated its concerns to the authorities and warned that industrial harmony could not be guaranteed if the agreement remained unimplemented.
According to him, the 2025 agreement required immediate implementation, stressing that the union had exhausted its efforts to resolve the matter through engagements with the university.
“We have notified the university long before now that we cannot guarantee industrial harmony if the agreement is not implemented,” the chairman said.
He further disclosed that the union sought legal intervention before embarking on the industrial action, adding that the court granted the union permission to proceed.
