Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has approved the appointment of a three-member board for the Ondo State Sports Council as part of efforts to strengthen sports development in the state.
The appointments were contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan.
Oladimeji Abimbola was appointed chairman of the council, while Babatunde Martins Boriwa and Ibiloye Matthew Abiodun will serve as members.
The appointments take immediate effect, according to the statement.
Aiyedatiwa charged the new council members to deploy their experience towards advancing sports development and encouraging greater participation at the grassroots.
The Governor also urged them to work towards promoting sporting excellence and creating opportunities for athletes across the state.
The latest appointments are part of the administration’s efforts to reposition the sports sector and improve its contribution to youth development in Ondo State.
