The Industrial Training Fund is set to establish a state-of-the-art Digital Fabrication Centre in Enugu following the approval of land by the state government for the project.
The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, approved the allocation of the parcel of land in the state capital for the proposed centre.
Mbah made the disclosure when he received a delegation of the Industrial Training Fund on a courtesy visit to the Government House in Enugu.
The development was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the ITF Director of Press and Public Relations, Thomas Ngor.
The governor described the project as a timely initiative capable of strengthening Enugu’s position as a hub for investment, innovation and technology-driven industrial development.
Mbah said his administration was committed to investing in human capital and emerging technologies, stressing that these remained critical to achieving sustainable economic growth.
He noted that the state had been creating an environment that would encourage innovation, entrepreneurship and technological advancement.
The governor also disclosed that technical education had been made compulsory within the state’s basic education system, with students exposed to areas such as digital literacy, robotics and mechatronics.
He explained that the growing influence of digital technology on traditional trades made it necessary to equip young people with modern technical skills that would prepare them for the changing world of work and enable them to compete internationally.
