A Kano Magistrates’ Court has ordered the detention of Auwal Adam over the alleged killing of his friend during a disagreement involving a tricycle accessory.
Adam was arraigned before Magistrate Sakina Aminu Yusuf on two charges — criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide. He pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
The prosecution, led by A.I. Buhari, sought more time to enable the authorities secure legal advice from the government before advancing the case.
The magistrate granted the request and directed that the defendant be kept in a correctional facility. The case was subsequently adjourned until September 8, 2026.
Police alleged that Adam allegedly carried out the act with the assistance of some associates who remain at large.
The deceased was identified as Aliyu Abubakar Badawa, said to have been a friend of the defendant.
According to the police, the disagreement reportedly stemmed from an argument over the cover of a tyre belonging to a tricycle, locally known as Adaidaita Sahu.
The court fixed September 8 for the continuation of the matter as investigations and legal processes continue.
