A 27-year-old man, Muktar Shehu, has been remanded in custody by a Yola Magistrate’s Court in Adamawa State after he was accused of stealing 27 pieces of women’s underwear.
Shehu, who hails from Zango Ward in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, was allegedly caught after breaking into the residence of Halima Yakubu.
The Adamawa State Police Command charged him with house trespass, theft and criminal charm before Chief Magistrate Court 3, Yola.
Police prosecutor, Danjuma Hamidu, told the court that the alleged incident occurred on August 6, 2026.
Hamidu said Shehu allegedly gained entry into Yakubu’s house and took away 27 pieces of underwear.
The prosecutor further alleged that the suspect told investigators that he took the items for ritual purposes.
Following his arraignment, the court ordered that Shehu remain in custody as proceedings in the matter continue.
The allegations against the defendant have not been established by the court, and he remains presumed innocent until proven guilty.
