The Nigerian Army has notified residents of Akure and neighbouring communities of a scheduled military route march to be held on Friday, urging the public not to be alarmed by the movement of troops.
The notification was conveyed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Headquarters, 32 Artillery Brigade, through its Army Public Relations Officer, Captain IP Omale.
According to the statement, the exercise will begin from the Owena Cantonment, move along Ondo Road through major parts of Akure, and return to the cantonment upon completion.
The Army described the exercise as one of its regular training activities aimed at enhancing operational readiness, noting that a large contingent of personnel would participate.
Residents were advised to remain calm and carry on with their normal activities, as the presence of the troops was strictly for the routine exercise and not in response to any security emergency.
The military also appealed to members of the public and road users to cooperate with security personnel during the exercise to ensure its successful and orderly conduct.
