Five people sustained injuries on Monday after a commercial bus reportedly lost control and crashed into two vehicles at Oba-Ile First Gate in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident occurred around 2:45pm and involved a Toyota Hiace bus travelling from Lagos and two vehicles that were parked by the roadside.
The bus, which had registration number LAM 256 LG, Kogi, reportedly veered from its lane before hitting the two onarystati vehicles, identified by registration numbers AKR 914 FT and DV 724 EKY.
A witness said the driver of the bus was attempting to avoid another vehicle when the collision occurred.
The witness alleged that a Dyna truck had suddenly obstructed the bus and that its driver lost control before fleeing the scene.
Five occupants of the bus were reportedly taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention, while the remaining passengers were said to have suffered less serious injuries.
One of the passengers, Austin Akoji, said the bus was carrying about nine people at the time of the crash, adding that five of them were taken to hospital.
“We were about nine passengers in the bus. Five were taken to the hospital, while some of us escaped with minor injuries,” Akoji said.
The collision left the three vehicles substantially damaged, while security personnel at the scene helped with rescue efforts and made arrangements for the damaged vehicles to be taken away.
The circumstances surrounding the crash could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.
