Hon. Mathew Oyerinmade, popularly known as MATO, has discontinued his suit challenging the substitution of his name by the All Progressives Congress National Working Committee in the House of Representatives primary election for the Ileoluji/Okeigbo/Odigbo Federal Constituency of Ondo State.
The case was brought before the Federal High Court in Abuja and came up on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
At the proceedings, counsel to Oyerinmade, Dr Remi Olatubora, SAN, informed the court that his client had elected to withdraw the suit on personal grounds.
Counsel representing the Independent National Electoral Commission and the defendant, Hon. Festus Adefinranye, reportedly did not object to the application.
Following the submissions, the court granted the request and ordered the suit dismissed.
The case was subsequently struck out and removed from the court’s cause list, effectively ending Oyerinmade’s legal challenge over the APC’s decision on the party’s House of Representatives ticket.
The development was contained in a statement issued by the MATO Mandate Group and signed by its counsel, Segun Odidi.
The group said the statement was released to clarify the development and provide members of the public and other stakeholders with accurate information on the status of the case.
