The Group Director of O’dua Investment Company Limited, Otunba Lai Oriowo, has urged voters in Osun State to protect democracy by electing leaders with the competence, integrity and vision to move the state forward.
Oriowo made the call shortly after casting his ballot at his polling unit in Ilesa West Local Government Area of the state during the Osun State governorship election.
The O’dua Investment Company director described voting as a civic responsibility through which citizens determine the direction of governance and the future of their communities.
He said the election went beyond the selection of a governor, stressing that the outcome would have significant implications for the state’s development and democratic values.
According to him, Osun requires purposeful and accountable leadership capable of creating economic opportunities, empowering youths and building a better future for residents.
Oriowo urged voters to remain peaceful and protect the sanctity of their votes throughout the electoral process.
He said, “Let us choose capacity over connection, integrity over propaganda, and vision over division. The ballot is our voice; let us use it well.”
He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to maintain transparency, fairness and professionalism, saying the credibility of the election depended on an outcome that reflected the genuine choice of the electorate.
Oriowo expressed optimism that the people of Osun would make the right choice, while urging the incoming administration to govern with unity, accountability and commitment to the common good.
He concluded with a call for collective responsibility among the people, saying, “Omo Yoruba, iṣẹ́ wa ni, fún ìtẹ̀síwájú Ìpínlẹ̀ Osun.”
