Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has raised concerns over an alleged attempt by soldiers to stop him from gaining access to Osun State on Saturday as the governorship election gets underway.

The singer disclosed this through his verified X handle, claiming that he was informed that military personnel had been positioned to prevent him from entering the state.

Davido, who is related to Governor Ademola Adeleke, said he would not accept the alleged restriction, stressing that Nigerians were entitled to move freely.

His claim came amid a statewide movement restriction announced by the security authorities as part of arrangements for the election.

The police had said movement in and out of Osun would be restricted from 12 midnight on Friday until 6pm on Saturday to enhance security and prevent disruptions during the poll.

The restriction is part of a wider security operation involving thousands of police officers and personnel from other agencies deployed across the state.

Davido has been actively campaigning for his uncle, who is seeking re-election under the Accord Party. Governor Adeleke is facing the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, alongside other candidates.

However, former presidential media aide, Bashir Ahmad, faulted Davido’s position, describing his reaction as “dramatic” and pointing out that the movement restriction had been publicly announced ahead of the election.

Ahmad argued that the temporary suspension of movement was a standard election security measure and said the right to freedom of movement did not exempt anyone from complying with lawful security arrangements.:::
