An unidentified man has died after reportedly collapsing at Ikare Junction in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident occurred during the weekend when the man suddenly slumped while standing at the busy junction and died before help could be rendered.
An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the sudden incident left passers-by shocked, as the cause of the man’s collapse could not immediately be established.
“We cannot say exactly what happened to him. He suddenly slumped and died,” the source said.
The circumstances surrounding the death remained unclear as of Monday, with authorities yet to establish the identity of the deceased or contact his relatives.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said detectives visited the scene and found no apparent sign of violence on the body.
Jimoh said the deceased was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, where a doctor confirmed him dead before his remains were deposited in the hospital mortuary.
The police spokesperson added that the command had commenced efforts to identify the deceased and locate his family, urging anyone with useful information to contact the nearest police station or the command.
