The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate allegedly linked to the abduction of one Abubakar Abdullahim at Molege, near Owo, Ondo State.
The suspects, identified as Adamu Rabiu and Haruna Likita, were apprehended during separate operations following intelligence gathered by operatives of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad in Akure.
Rabiu was arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State, with the assistance of the Oyo State Police Command, while Likita was apprehended around Ipele, near Owo, in connection with the same kidnapping incident.
According to the police, preliminary investigation established links between the two suspects and the abduction of Abdullahim, who was kidnapped on August 1, 2026.
The command said the suspects made statements during interrogation in which they allegedly admitted their involvement in the crime.
It added that their statements and other intelligence gathered by investigators were being analysed to determine the full circumstances surrounding the abduction and identify other members of the suspected syndicate.
The police said efforts were also being intensified to uncover the wider network and operational structure of the group, with a view to arresting other persons allegedly involved in kidnapping activities.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Felix Ohagwu, commended the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for what he described as its diligence, courage and commitment to protecting residents.
Ohagwu assured residents that the command would sustain intelligence-driven operations against kidnappers and other violent criminals in the state.
The police boss also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely and credible information about suspicious persons, movements and activities to the police and other security agencies.
The command said the suspects would be charged to court after the completion of investigation.
