The Enugu State University of Science and Technology has suspended three students of its Faculty of Law for two years following their involvement in examination malpractice.
The sanctions, which commenced on June 25, 2026, will remain in force until June 24, 2028, according to separate letters issued to the affected students by the university Registrar, Ambrose Ugwu.
The students are Isong Ugwu, Gad Nwosu and Roseline Nnamani, comprising two males and a female.
Ugwu said the disciplinary action followed the approval of the recommendations of the Senate Examinations Malpractice Committee by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, acting on behalf of the university Senate.
The affected students were subsequently ordered to leave the university premises and surrender any institution-owned property in their possession to their respective heads of department.
The registrar said the university had also notified the students’ sponsors as well as the National Universities Commission of the disciplinary measures.
He added that the students would not automatically resume their studies after the suspension, but would be required to apply for readmission when the sanction ends in June 2028.
In a related development, the university cleared another law student, Goodluck Iwuamadi, of an examination malpractice allegation.
Iwuamadi’s exoneration followed the recommendation of the Senate Examinations Malpractice Committee, which found no basis for imposing a sanction on him.
