The West African Examinations Council has postponed the release of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination results earlier scheduled for Monday.
The examination body announced the development in a statement issued on Monday by its Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, on behalf of the Head of the National Office.
According to the council, the press briefing initially fixed to officially announce the release of the results has been rescheduled, while a new date and time will be communicated to stakeholders.
The statement read, "Please be informed that the press briefing to announce the release of the results for the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2026, has been rescheduled. The new date and time will be communicated to you shortly. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this change may cause."
WAEC, however, did not give any reason for the postponement.
Before the latest development, the council had disclosed that it was concluding the final stages of processing the examination results and expected to release them on Monday once all required procedures had been completed.
The postponement means millions of candidates, parents, schools and other stakeholders will now await a fresh announcement from WAEC on the new date for the release of the 2026 WASSCE results.
