The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Sada Tambai, for allegedly beating his 80-year-old father, Adamu Tambai, to death in Mundadu village, Bindawa Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Katsina on Saturday.
The incident reportedly occurred on September 21, 2026, after the police received a distress call from the District Head of Bindawa, Dan Yusufan Katsina, that the former Ward Head of Mundadu had been found motionless outside his residence.
Following the report, police detectives were deployed to the community and the elderly man was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. He was, however, pronounced dead by a doctor on arrival.
The police said preliminary investigation led to the arrest of Tambai, who allegedly admitted during interrogation that he struck his father on the head with a stick, inflicting injuries that later resulted in his death.
The suspect has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, according to the command.
The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali Fage, ordered a discreet and thorough investigation into the case and directed that the suspect be prosecuted after the conclusion of the investigation.
The command expressed sympathy to the deceased’s family and assured residents that efforts would be made to ensure that the circumstances surrounding the death were fully investigated and justice pursued.
