The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko branch, Ondo State, has dismissed reports that the state government has released funds to address its demands, insisting that its ongoing strike will continue.
The union said the Ondo State Government had yet to provide funds for the full implementation of the 2025 agreement between the Federal Government and ASUU as well as the payment of salary-related arrears dating back to January 2026.
The position was contained in a statement issued by the Chairperson of ASUU-AAUA, Comrade Boluwaji Oshodi, in response to reports and social media claims concerning the release of subvention to the university.
Oshodi urged members of the union to disregard what he described as publicity surrounding the alleged release of funds, stressing that the government had not met the financial obligations at the centre of the dispute.
He said the branch leadership remained committed to the mandate given by the Congress on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, directing members to sustain the industrial action.
According to him, the strike would continue until the 2025 FG-ASUU agreement was fully implemented and the outstanding arrears owed to affected workers from January 2026 were paid.
The union chairman also appealed to members to remain steadfast and vigilant throughout the struggle, warning them against actions or circumstances that could undermine the collective position of the union.
The ASUU-AAUA branch reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing the demands of its members until the issues surrounding the implementation of the agreement and payment of the outstanding arrears were satisfactorily resolved.
