AAUA management visits Olubaka, Akoko SE, NE LG executives for Infrastructure upgrade

The Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Prof. Tomola Obamuyi, has appealed to individuals, organisations and indigenes of Akoko at home and abroad to support the institution’s efforts to address its infrastructure needs.

Obamuyi made the call during separate engagements with traditional and political leaders in Akoko land as part of the university management’s ongoing consultations with key stakeholders.

The Vice-Chancellor and members of the university management visited the Olubaka-in-Council, as well as the Chairman of Akoko North-East Local Government, Alhaji Mohammed Olawale, at the council secretariat in Ikare-Akoko, and the Chairman of Akoko South-East Local Government, Engr Omolehin Ayegbo, in Isua-Akoko.

Obamuyi said the university required collective support to improve its facilities and create a better environment for teaching, learning and research.

He said the responsibility for developing the institution should not rest solely on government, urging philanthropists, corporate organisations, alumni and successful Akoko indigenes to contribute towards specific projects.

The Vice-Chancellor identified additional students’ hostels, access roads within and around the university, a mega auditorium and the construction, renovation and refurbishment of lecture theatres and classrooms among the priority projects requiring attention.

According to him, improving the facilities would enhance students’ welfare and safety while providing staff and students with a more conducive environment for academic activities.

Obamuyi described AAUA as a strategic institution whose contributions extend beyond Akoko and Ondo State, noting that the university had continued to play a significant role in human capital development through the training of students in various disciplines.

He urged traditional institutions, local government authorities and other stakeholders to regard the development of AAUA as a collective investment in the future of Akoko and the wider society.

The Vice-Chancellor also called for stronger collaboration between the university and communities in Akoko, saying sustained partnerships would help promote development and deepen the relationship between the institution and its host communities.

Responding separately, the traditional and local government leaders pledged to mobilise their people and institutions to support the infrastructure projects presented by the university management.

The engagements, according to the university, are part of efforts to build stronger stakeholder partnerships and mobilise resources for the development of critical infrastructure at AAUA.
