The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Prof. Tomola Obamuyi, has commended Ondo State Governor and Visitor to the institution, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for his financial interventions in the university.
Obamuyi, in a statement issued on Sunday, September 27, 2026, also thanked the governor for approving funds for the implementation of agreements reached between the Federal Government and university-based unions.
The Vice Chancellor said the governor had recently approved more than N1bn to enable the university settle outstanding salaries for May and June, adding that additional funds had been provided for the implementation of the agreed salary increase.
He said the latest intervention would facilitate the payment of the Consolidated Academic and Technical Allowance and Consolidated Teaching and Non-Teaching Allowance, known as CATTA and CONTTA.
According to him, the implementation of the agreements would help stabilise the university's academic calendar and enable students to complete their programmes within the expected period.
Obamuyi described the governor's interventions as unprecedented in the history of the institution, urging stakeholders and education enthusiasts to appreciate the support.
He assured Aiyedatiwa that the university management would reciprocate the gesture by strengthening research and ensuring its findings contribute meaningfully to society.
The VC added that the university remained committed to producing graduates capable of competing with their counterparts globally, expressing optimism that academic and other programmes would resume fully following the release of the funds.
