Former First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has paid a visit to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who is the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress for the 2027 election.
Atiku disclosed the meeting in a post on his X account on Wednesday, describing the visit by the former First Lady as warm and deeply appreciated.
According to him, the meeting went beyond social courtesies, drawing attention to the responsibility of political leaders and others seeking a better Nigeria to place citizens’ welfare at the centre of their efforts.
The former Vice-President said many Nigerian families were struggling with the increasing cost of basic necessities, including food, transportation, education and healthcare.
He said, “Beyond the courtesies of the occasion, it was also a reminder of the urgent responsibility before all who seek a better Nigeria: to put the welfare, dignity and future of our people first.”
Atiku added that Nigerians deserved an economy capable of creating opportunities, rewarding hard work and enabling families to live with dignity and hope.
He said achieving such a country would require collective efforts to reduce the economic burden on citizens, restore hope and build a Nigeria that works for its people, concluding with the call to “Make Nigeria Affordable Again.”
