Youths in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State have called for greater unity within the All Progressives Congress and increased investment in youth development to strengthen the country’s socio-economic growth.
The call was made at a youth summit organised by the APC Youth Leader in the council area, Busari Mustapha, where participants also urged young people to play responsible roles in the political development of the country.
Mustapha thanked APC leaders, members and residents for their support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stressing that unity among party members remained essential to sustaining its programmes and strengthening its grassroots structure.
He also advised youths to shun drug abuse, pursue education, acquire relevant skills and embrace entrepreneurship, saying such efforts would improve their prospects for self-reliance and economic independence.
The youth leader commended the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his contributions to youth empowerment and development in Ondo State, particularly in Akoko North-West, and urged youths to take advantage of available opportunities to develop their capacities.
The APC chairman in the council area, Kehinde Obanla, represented by Bola Salami, commended Mustapha for organising the summit and urged party members and residents to maintain their support for the Tinubu administration.
Similarly, the member representing Akoko North-West Constituency I in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Fatai Atere, who is seeking re-election, thanked residents for their support for the APC-led government and appealed for continued backing for the party.
The Director-General of BTO4PBAT, Ogbeni Adojutelegan Adesuyi Gideon, and Hon. Idowu Aiyegbusi also called for unity and commitment among APC members, stressing the need for cohesion ahead of forthcoming elections.
A major highlight of the summit was an inter-school quiz involving students from Constituencies I and II, with students from Constituency I emerging winners and receiving a N100,000 cash prize.
The event also featured discussions on education, entrepreneurship and responsible political participation, with APC leaders, youths, students, educators and other stakeholders in attendance.
