Gov. Sule reacts to Wike’s list, says ‘Thank God I’m not among them’

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has expressed relief after his name was left out of a list of three All Progressives Congress governors whom the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, accused of opposing his Rainbow Coalition.

Sule spoke on Tuesday during a TVC interview while commenting on the disagreement between Wike and some APC governors over the political arrangement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wike had earlier identified Imo Governor Hope Uzodimma, Kwara Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun as the APC governors he said were opposed to the coalition.

Reacting to the development, Sule said he was thankful that he was not among those named, adding that he felt relieved by his exclusion from Wike’s list.

The Nasarawa governor also questioned the political basis of Wike’s proposed alliance, noting that the FCT minister does not belong to the APC despite serving in the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Sule said Wike’s decision to mobilise support for Tinubu from outside the ruling party raised questions about the purpose of the alliance and its relationship with the APC.

He further suggested that the position taken by the Progressive Governors’ Forum may have been misunderstood in the ongoing disagreement over the Rainbow Coalition.

The dispute has continued to generate political reactions ahead of the 2027 elections, with Wike maintaining that his coalition is aimed at supporting President Tinubu’s re-election, while APC governors have expressed concerns about political arrangements that could affect the party and its candidates.
