The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has shut down 12 establishments across the state over alleged persistent breaches of environmental regulations.
The affected establishments, located in Ogba, Idimu-Ikota, Ejigbo, LASU-Iba Road, Igando and Agodo-Egbe areas, were sealed during an enforcement operation conducted by the agency on Tuesday.
LASEPA said the closures followed repeated warnings, abatement notices and opportunities given to the affected operators to correct the identified violations, but they allegedly failed to comply with the agency’s directives.
Among those affected were Thrillz Lounge in Ogba, Marvel Hotel & Suites, Keviz Hotel & Suites, DSN Hotel & Suites, Rudaj Vegetable Oil, Nico Hotel & Suites, Kobo Night Club and Nikky’s Executive Bar & Lounge.
The Celestial Church of Christ, Aduragbemi Parish, in Ikotun, was also sealed over alleged noise pollution and failure to comply with environmental directives. Other facilities affected included Feixiang Plastic, Limas and Master Furniture.
According to the agency, the violations ranged from noise pollution and obstruction of its officials to general non-compliance with environmental requirements and directives issued to the operators.
The General Manager of LASEPA, Dr Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to safeguarding public health and maintaining environmental standards across Lagos.
Ajayi urged business owners, religious organisations, facility operators and residents to obtain the necessary environmental approvals, comply with applicable regulations and cooperate with the agency, stressing that enforcement would continue across the state.
