The Director-General of the Industrial Training Fund, Dr Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun, has described Vice President Kashim Shettima as a bridge-builder and patriot whose leadership has contributed to national development.
Ogun, in a goodwill message to mark Shettima’s 60th birthday, said the Vice President’s intervention in the institutional disagreement between the ITF and the National Board for Technical Education helped to clarify the responsibilities of both agencies and promote greater cooperation.
The ITF boss, who spoke on behalf of the management and staff of the Fund, said Shettima’s intervention addressed an “age-long institutional quagmire” that had generated concerns and friction between the two government agencies.
He noted that the Vice President’s approach provided a pathway for improved institutional harmony, cooperation and clearer delineation of responsibilities between the ITF and NBTE.
According to Ogun, Shettima’s career spanning banking, public administration and politics had demonstrated intellectual depth, visionary leadership and commitment to public service.
He also commended the Vice President for supporting programmes of the ITF focused on skills acquisition, technical and vocational training, entrepreneurship, employability and enterprise development.
Ogun said Shettima’s support for human capital development aligned with the ITF’s mandate to equip Nigerians with relevant, demand-driven and globally competitive skills while improving workforce productivity.
He prayed for continued good health, wisdom and strength for the Vice President, expressing optimism that his partnership with President Bola Tinubu would continue to yield benefits for Nigerians and contribute to the development of a prosperous economy.
