ITF DG represents Nigeria at WorldSkills competition in China

The Director-General of the Industrial Training Fund, Dr Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun, has represented Nigeria at the 48th WorldSkills International Competition and Conference held in Shanghai, China.

The global event brought together 1,385 competitors from 68 countries and regions, with participants showcasing their skills and expertise in 64 different fields.

Ogun’s participation at the competition underscored Nigeria’s efforts to strengthen technical and vocational education and training while raising the standard of skills development and professionalism among its workforce.

The ITF boss said the country’s economic growth and transformation would depend largely on the knowledge, creativity and craftsmanship of its skilled workforce.

The WorldSkills International Competition provides an international platform for young professionals to demonstrate their abilities, exchange ideas and compete in various technical and vocational disciplines.

Through its participation in the event, the ITF reaffirmed the importance of developing artisans and other skilled professionals whose competencies meet internationally recognised standards.

The Fund said improved technical and vocational skills would help boost productivity, stimulate innovation and contribute to Nigeria’s industrial development.

The participation also reflected the country’s broader efforts to position skills acquisition and workforce development as key components of its economic growth and development agenda.
