Kwara governor blames me whenever he sees snake - Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has accused Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of repeatedly linking him to political problems in the state.

Wike made the allegation during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Tuesday, while reacting to criticism from some All Progressives Congress governors over the Rainbow Coalition’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

The former Rivers State governor claimed that AbdulRazaq had become overly focused on political gossip instead of concentrating on the responsibilities of governing Kwara State.

According to Wike, the governor had allegedly attributed various developments to him, regardless of whether they were connected to him or not.

He said, “Anytime he sees a snake, it’s Wike. Anytime he sees a reptile, it’s Wike. Any day he doesn’t eat, it’s Wike.”

Wike also questioned AbdulRazaq’s handling of the state’s political representation, alleging that the governor had replaced serving lawmakers representing Kwara.

He said, “He has three serving senators; he changed all of them. He has House of Representatives members; he changed all of them. Now, if you are a good politician, you’ll see it doesn’t look good.”

The FCT minister suggested that the governor’s comments about him were connected to unresolved political issues within Kwara State.

The latest exchange comes amid increasing political disagreements among members and allies of the ruling APC as different groups position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wike has continued to distinguish his support for Tinubu’s presidential re-election bid from the contests involving other APC candidates, a position that has drawn criticism from some APC governors.
