A 24-year-old Nigerian migrant, Gift Oladele, has been convicted in the United Kingdom for raping and sexually assaulting a 19-year-old British woman in Wrexham, Wales, with his immigration status also coming under scrutiny.
The incident occurred on September 7, 2025, when Oladele reportedly offered to accompany the woman as they walked home after a night out before allegedly attacking her at an isolated location.
According to the victim, who has chosen to remain anonymous, Oladele overpowered her and assaulted her before allegedly making a disturbing remark about her appearance and the attack.
The woman told reporters that she feared for her life during the incident, saying she entered what she described as “survival mode” as she tried to comply with her attacker’s demands to stay alive.
She further alleged that Oladele threatened to track her down if she reported the incident and warned that he could publish photographs of her online.
Oladele was convicted of rape and sexual assault following a trial at Mold Crown Court in March. Reports indicated that he was already on bail over another rape allegation in Manchester when the latest offence occurred.
The case has also drawn attention to Oladele’s previous criminal history, as he was reportedly jailed in 2022 for a sexually motivated attack and had earlier successfully challenged efforts to deport him to Nigeria on human rights grounds.
The latest case has renewed scrutiny of his immigration status and previous convictions, while the victim’s account has highlighted the lasting impact of the assault.
