A Nigerian woman who travelled from Lagos to Doha, Qatar, has reportedly gone unreachable for more than 48 hours after arriving in the country, leaving her family deeply worried about her whereabouts.
The 37-year-old woman travelled aboard Qatar Airways flight QR1408 from Lagos on Tuesday and was expected to be received at the Doha airport by a person arranged to pick her up.
Her brother, Jonathan Jibo, said the family’s last contact with her was while she was still on the aircraft, where she communicated with them through WhatsApp using the flight’s internet service.
Jibo said the aircraft landed safely in Doha, but his sister failed to meet the person who had gone to receive her. Efforts to establish her whereabouts reportedly led the family to contact the airport and the airline.
According to him, the airline indicated that she had collected her luggage, further deepening the family’s concern over what happened after her arrival.
The brother said the development was particularly disturbing because his sister was familiar with airport procedures, having worked at Lagos Airport for nearly 12 years. He added that this was her first trip abroad and that she had no friends or known contacts in Qatar.
He further disclosed that she had made arrangements for accommodation months before travelling and was expected to commence employment in Doha weeks after her arrival. The family is now seeking information that could help establish her whereabouts.
