Tom Garba, a former All Progressives Congress aspirant for the Lere West Constituency seat in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, has declared his commitment to the party, saying he will deploy his political structure to secure victory for its candidates in the 2027 elections.
Garba made the declaration while speaking to APC supporters, grassroots politicians and other party members during a gathering in Garun Kurama, where he distributed cash to some party loyalists and residents in need.
The former aspirant said his inability to obtain the party’s ticket had not diminished his loyalty to the APC, stressing that his commitment to the party was more important than his personal political ambition.
“With my campaign structure, I will use all I have to vigorously canvass, advocate and mobilise votes for all the APC candidates. I’m a loyal party man. The fact that I didn’t get the ticket is never an ‘I must do’ agenda,” he said.
Garba said he believed that political authority ultimately rested with God, adding that losing the ticket at the present time would not stop him from contributing to the party’s growth and electoral fortunes.
He stated, “I’m a man of conscience who believes in the prerogative power of God to enthrone and to dethrone leaders. He gives power to whosoever He wishes at His time. It’s not time for me. I’m convinced mine is coming at the appointed time, which is going to be the best.”
According to him, his immediate political assignment was to ensure that APC candidates emerged victorious at all levels of the 2027 elections.
“My business for now is focused on seeing that I deliver all my candidates in APC from top to bottom. It’s non-negotiable, and I mean it,” Garba declared.
He expressed support for President Bola Tinubu, saying the Federal Government had taken steps towards addressing insecurity, improving the economy and expanding infrastructure.
Garba also commended the President for appointing several people from Kaduna State to positions within the Federal Government, describing the appointments as a demonstration of inclusiveness.
The APC chieftain equally backed Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, praising his administration for what he described as fairness and efforts to ensure that residents across the state benefit from governance.
He urged APC members to support Sani and work towards his re-election, describing the governor as a leader who had shown commitment to inclusivity.
“Leaders like Uba Sani are rare because his human nature of serving with all sense of fairness is his watchword. His efforts to carry everyone along so that people can feel and get the dividends of democracy are commendable,” he said.
Garba called on residents of Garun Kurama and neighbouring communities to vote for APC candidates across the ballot, arguing that retaining the party in government would create room for further development.
He particularly drew attention to the agricultural prospects of Lere, describing the area as predominantly agrarian and noted for farming and food production.
The former aspirant said increased attention to agriculture and education could further unlock the potential of the constituency and improve the livelihood of residents.
Garba also hailed the emergence of a woman as Majority Leader of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, describing it as an important milestone for the area.
He appealed to voters to support APC candidates, including former Kaduna State Governor and senatorial candidate, Lamaran Yero; the party’s candidate for Lere Federal Constituency, Ahmed Mannir; and its consensus candidate for the State House of Assembly, Mubarak Ibrahim.
He described the candidates as competent representatives and urged party members to work together to secure their victories.
As the 2027 elections approach, Garba also appealed for peace and unity, urging political actors and supporters to avoid actions capable of creating tension.
He maintained that his political aspirations would not take precedence over the interests of the APC, stressing that his current focus was on strengthening the party and delivering electoral victories across Kaduna State.
