2027: I remain APC leader - Ex-Gov. Okorocha challenges Uzodinma

Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has challenged Governor Hope Uzodinma over control of the All Progressives Congress structure in the state, insisting that he remains the party’s leading political figure in Imo.

Okorocha stated this on Thursday during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme, where he dismissed claims by rival political camps that they controlled the party’s structure.

He maintained that he played a major role in building the APC in Imo State and could not be displaced by any political group, insisting that his influence among party members and residents remained intact.

“I remain the dominant APC figure in Imo State. Nobody can take my place. I built this party with my blood and sweat, and the people are still with me,” the former governor said.

Okorocha accused supporters of Uzodinma of attempting to take control of the party through what he described as propaganda, arguing that their claims did not reflect the actual political situation in the state.

He further dismissed the activities of those laying claim to the APC leadership, describing their assertions as unserious and insisting that the party’s authentic structure remained with him.

The former governor said he was unfazed by the contest for political supremacy in the state, expressing confidence that the true position of the party’s leadership would eventually become clear.

His remarks come amid renewed political tension between him and Uzodinma over the control of the APC in Imo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
