A 30-year-old man, Haruna Ishaka, has died after his 24-year-old wife, identified as Maimuna, allegedly severed his manhood during a domestic dispute in Taraba State.
The incident reportedly occurred around 11:15pm on Monday at the couple’s residence in Maigoje village, Mai Idanu Ward, Gashaka Local Government Area of the state.
Sources in the community said the disagreement allegedly stemmed from the husband’s interactions with young girls outside the marriage, which his wife was said to have repeatedly objected to.
Ishaka, a Fulani man, reportedly died in the early hours of Tuesday, hours after the alleged attack.
He was subsequently buried in accordance with Islamic rites, while his wife was said to have fled the community following the incident.
Confirming awareness of the incident on Friday, the spokesperson for the Taraba State Police Command, Victor Mshelizah, said the Divisional Police Officer was heading to the scene.
“I am aware of the report. The DPO is heading to the location as we speak,” Mshelizah said.
The police said investigations were ongoing, while efforts were being made to locate and arrest the fleeing suspect.
