33-year-old man arrested for writing FCT promotion exam for father

A 33-year-old man, Monsuru Musa, has been arrested after allegedly impersonating his father, an employee of the FCT Fire Service, during a promotion examination in Abuja.

Musa was reportedly caught on Wednesday, the third day of the examination organised by the FCT Civil Service Commission, at the National Open University of Nigeria premises where the test was being conducted.

Security personnel deployed to monitor the exercise reportedly became suspicious before apprehending him and taking him for questioning.

During interrogation, Musa allegedly claimed that his father, Musa Mohammed, was ill and unable to attend the examination. He reportedly said his father instructed him to sit for the test on his behalf.

The suspect, however, gave conflicting information about his father’s age, putting it at between 67 and 68 years.

His father reportedly gave a different account to security officials, saying he would clock 60 in February 2027. He also disclosed that he completed primary education in 1977 and secondary school in 1982.

Following the incident, the father and son were reportedly taken into custody after making statements to operatives of the Department of State Services.

They were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation into the alleged examination impersonation.
