The Peoples Democratic Party has warned that members accused of working against its interests could face disciplinary measures, amid renewed tension involving the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
A party stalwart, Emmanuel Ogidi, gave the indication on Wednesday during an appearance on Arise Television, where he discussed the lingering disagreements threatening the PDP’s unity.
Ogidi alleged that Wike was pursuing interests contrary to those of the opposition party, arguing that the minister could not claim allegiance to the PDP while allegedly supporting the ruling All Progressives Congress.
“You can’t serve two masters. He (Wike) is supposed to be serving us in PDP but he is serving APC,” the chieftain said.
He accused the APC of exploiting the crisis within the opposition party to weaken its capacity, adding that the PDP leadership was aware of what he described as deliberate attempts to undermine the party.
Ogidi said the party was preparing to act against members found guilty of indiscipline, warning that its willingness to accommodate aggrieved stakeholders should not be mistaken for an inability to enforce its rules.
He maintained that the PDP remained resilient despite internal wrangling, court disputes, defections and disagreements over zoning arrangements, insisting that the challenges would not destroy the party.
The chieftain added that the PDP was focused on ensuring a successful national convention and resolving outstanding disputes as it positioned itself for the 2027 general elections.
