Two women injured at Tinubu’s campaign flag-off, one hospitalised

Two women sustained injuries during the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna on Saturday, with one of the victims evacuated to hospital for further treatment.

The National Emergency Management Agency disclosed that its emergency response team treated the victims following an incident at the crowded Kaduna Township Stadium, also known as Ranchers Bees Stadium, where the campaign event was held.

One of the women reportedly suffered a fractured leg and received first aid from NEMA officials before being taken to Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital for further medical attention.

The second victim sustained a minor injury and was treated at the venue. She subsequently remained at the event, according to the agency’s report.

NEMA’s Emergency Response Team was led by its Head of Operations, Halima Sulaiman, and supported by personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps and other emergency responders deployed to the stadium.

The deployment was intended to ensure prompt medical intervention and effective emergency management during the gathering, which attracted supporters and political stakeholders for the APC’s campaign inauguration in the Northwest.

The incident highlighted the importance of emergency preparedness at large political gatherings, where overcrowding can complicate the delivery of medical assistance to attendees.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported the incident on Saturday, although the circumstances surrounding the injuries were not immediately disclosed.
